Pozuzo is a hidden paradise in Peru’s central jungle! It is among Peru’s best kept secrets! You will fall in love with this small town: its European-style wooden houses, red gabled roofs, water falls, the green surrounding hills and the turquoise lakes. Unlike many other towns in the Peruvian jungle it is very clean and well kept. This has a lot to do with its origin.

Named as the only Austro-German colony in the world, this small town was founded in 1859 by immigrant from Tirol & Prussia. They built their European-style houses, built their church, farmed the land, and bred their own animals. They lived in isolation for practically 100 years. During this time, they maintained their language, their clothing, their dance, their music, their food and their customs for generations. Thus preserving their identity and culture. Most people live from agriculture and livestock.

Now you understand that Pozuzo has a unique gastronomy: a mix of the German kitchen and the typical dishes from the Peruvian amazon area. The saddlers had to improvise, their strudel is made from bananas because there are no apples available! Without any doubt Pozuzo has the best beer in Peru. There are 2 breweries in Pozuzo: Dorcher ad Schauss. You will love sitting at their bar and participate in a tasting of all their beers!

If you are thinking of traveling to this incredible destination and you have not yet decided, I assure you that after reading and seeing the photos, you will!

Of course you can come to Pozuzo to see the sights in 2 or 3 days! but we invite you to a different program: To be just another Pozucino, to share their culture, listen to their stories, walk their paths and become fond of their people. If you are o a Latin America tour, Pozuzo is the perfect place for a travel-break: Just enjoy the local jungle life and chill.

The image features a rural setting with a small water body in the foreground reflecting a few trees, including a large one extending its branches. Behind the water body, there are several modest houses painted in different colors like green and purple. The background showcases more vegetation with trees and the sky is partially cloudy.
