Yanachaga Chemillén National Park
The Yanachaga Chemillén National Park is a protected area of 122,000 hectares of the Central Jungle. In this fascinating place where you can observe the beautiful “Gallito de las Rocas” in all its splendor ! This is Peru’s national bird. The National Park has some interesting signposted trails (2 hours). Rainfall can be unpredictable so bring some waterproof clothing. If you want to see the “Gallito de las Rocas” take the “Route of the Settlers”, (they usually leave after 03:00pm). Dont forget to go to the suspension bridge “El Tigrillo” and take a pleasant dip in the natural jacuzzi formed by the river that runs under the suspension bridge. From Pozuzo it is only 17 km towards Oxapampa to reach the Huampal Station, the tourist entrance of the park.
Delfin Waterfall
The Delfin Waterfall is an imposing waterfall over 100 meters high! and a spectacular view surrounded by pure nature. A must-see destination to visit during a stay in Pozuzo. At the foot of the waterfall there is a refreshing pool that invites to a refreshing dip. We recommend you to try an intense shower and relaxing and massage under its fall to enjoy
From Pozuzo it is only a 1.5 hour drive by bike to the former Delfin hydroelectric plant. You can also order a tuc-tuc or taxi. Once there you hike for about 1 hour. The views on the way are spectacular: you will walk thru the amazing Huancabamba Canyon, and the path lingers along different cattle ranches. At the entrance you pay 3 sol to very friendly Lady
The Eternal Rain
After 1 hour biking towards Oxapampa, just 10 minutes before reaching the Huampal Station (Yanachaga Chemillén National Park) you find the entrance to Lluvias Eternas.
After entering you need to follow a jungle path for half a hour, surrounded by thick vegetation and the route of an adventurous spirit. They charge 2 sol at the Entrance. This unmissable destination can be described as a wall of caves with waterfalls that resemble a constant and eternal rain, under which runs a torrid river that forms pools of water naturally created for the delight of visitors. The place is taken from a dream. bring waterproof shoes as the road crosses rivers!
Laguna Espejo and Balcón de Trama
A hike surrounded by mystical landscapes, nature and farm animals everywhere you look. Your first stop will be at the Witting Family estate, very warm and friendly people with whom you can share a pleasant moment and listen to the stories of the place. They offer a delicious lunch after you enjoyed a refreshing swim in the waters of the lagoon. The fixed recommendations of the place are: Take a dip in the Mirror Lagoon, Hike to the viewpoint of the lagoon, from where you have a panoramic view of the place. After lunch, chill in the hammocks on the shores of the lagoon.
From Pozuzo you bike about 2 hours towards Montefuner and head to the town of Tingo Malpaso. Once in Tingo Malpaso the road to Trama is signposted. You will have to cross a suspension bridge and follow a steep trail for approximately 30 minutes. The road can be tiring, especially because of the climb and the heat of the jungle, but I assure you that a delicious dip in the Espejo Lagoon will be more than relaxing and replenishing. The Salt Water Pools
The Salt Water Pools are a source of crystal clear turquoise water with a bottom of fine sand and small stones. Its cold waters are great for cooling off after the ride! It is amazing how translucent the turquoise water is! The Salt Water Pools are fed by underground rivers that flow directly from the surrounding mountains, making it quite a spectacle to see the current of water coming out of the rocks. Its waters are also attributed with healing properties as they contain many minerals such as sulfur and salt.
From Pozuzo the pools are only 11 km: a 1 hour bike ride. Take the route to Montefuner and go to the town of Bajo Chancarizo, a tourist entrance to the Salt Water Pools. Entrance Price: 2 sol.
